Nouns and Verbs is our weekly challenge where we blog about what specific words mean to us. We invite you to join in the fun via the comment section, telling us how or why these ordinary nouns and verbs are meaningful to you. This week, the word is WATER.
We recently added a couple of blue rain barrels underneath the gutters of our garage. I went out yesterday to check on the progress and I'm happy to say the recent rainfall has them filling up quickly. When the weather dries up, I will have collected water for watering my garden, compost, flower beds and filling my birdbaths. Our barrel doesn't have a spigot or hose, so we'll transport the water with a bucket or watering can. I would enjoy hearing from anyone who has any experience in this area, or other ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Water is a good word for the week, with all the rain we've had lately. When I think about water I think about puddles (which my granddaughter loves to walk through and splash in) and that fine misty rain that feels so good to walk in. Another fun water memory is water fights while car washing. Your entry reminds me of people collecting rain water to filter through ashes to make lye for soap making.
Hey Lisa, here's what I have to say about WATER...from Art Nellen.
Ten good reasons we need water:
Without it:
Our coffee would be too strong;
We could not launch our boats;
The atmosphere would be quite dry;
How would we bathe?
What would we use to sprinkle our shrubs?
How could we go fishing?
Urination would be very uncomfortable.
Windshield washer solvent would be very expensive;
My dog’s water bowl would be bone dry
It never could replace milk on cereal.
Art, I love the list!
Puddles! What fun that was to play in the puddles after a rain. It was a great way to let Barbie go swimming!
